Congress Leader Shashi Tharoor on the end of Sonia Gandhi's tenure as party interim president said that we should be clear about our leadership going forward. Shashi Tharoor said, "We should be clear about our leadership going forward. I welcomed Sonia Ji's appointment as interim president last year. But I do believe it is unfair to her to expect her to carry this burden indefinitely." He further said, "If Rahul Gandhi says no I don't want to come back, then the question that many of the party members are asking - "How long can we carry on like this?"- that is the question. We would ideally like a clear cut decision as soon as possible."

Congress MLA Bhanwar Lal Sharma on audio clips in which he is purportedly heard conspiring to topple Rajasthan government said that he does not know any Gajendra Shekhawat. He said, "I don't know anything about audio. I know a Gajendra Singh. I don't know any Shekhawat. There is no audio, it was a lie. I don't know Sanjay Jain." He further said, "There was no camp, nobody was a captive. Bhanwar Lal can never be a captive. I went there willingly, I have come here willingly."

Covid update: Pranab Mukherjee infected; WHO on virus; Yediyurappa recovers

Former Indian President Pranab Mukherjee tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday. Mukherjee requested people who came in contact with him to self-isolate. World Health Organisation (WHO) chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said there is a need to “suppress, suppress, suppress” the virus. Tedros said there is still hope of conquering Covid-19. Over 90% Covid-19 patients in Delhi have recovered, according to the latest statistics. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said the people of Delhi are slowly and steadily defeating corona. Also, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa was on Monday discharged from hospital after he recovered from Covid-19. COVID-19: Maharashtra continues to lead caseload

The cases of coronavirus continued to surge in India. Maharashtra reported 9,181 new COVID-19 positive cases and 293 deaths on Aug 10 taking total corona cases to 5,24,513. Delhi recorded 707 COVID-19 cases and 20 deaths today. 5,914 new COVID-19 positive cases and 114 deaths have been reported in Tamil Nadu today.
