Pune: E-pass not required for intra-district travel clarifies MSRTC

MSRTC has started its intra-district travel in Pune with no e-pass required but use of mask amid COVID-19 is mandatory

The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has now recommenced intra-district bus service for commuters in Pune for 40 routes within the district jurisdiction. According to the officials of MSRTC, e-pass which is issued by Pune police is not required when travelling but use of masks is mandatory for the travellers. The buses will operate from Swargate and Wakdewadi (Shivajinagar).

After a break of over four months, the state transport have started a intra-district bus service which is expected to be beneficial for the travellers.

Rohit Kshirsagar, a traveller who travels intra-district daily said, “I daily ply to Paud or Mulashi for my work. From last four months ‘’Lal Pari’ (MSRTC buses) were not plying and it was difficult to travel amid the lockdown. Even if I travelled from my motor-bike, it was not affordable as the fuel prices has increased. Now, it’s a good news for several passengers like me which travel in intra-district.”

The buses are currently operating from Pune to Bhor, Bhimashankar, Baramati, Paud, Saswad, Shirur, Rajgurunagar, Indapur, Narayangaon, Daund, Nira, Junnar, Alephata, Patas, Velha and Mulashi.  The MSRTC buses will also ply between, Baramati-Walchandnagar, Baramati-Daund, Baramati-Bhigwan, Swargate-Velha, Narayangao-Junnar, Junnar-Deole and Talegaon-Chakan-Shikrapur.

Meanwhile, MSRTC buses will also ply special buses to Konkan for the upcoming festival. According to Road Transport Minister Anil Parab, a special arrangement of MSRTC buses for people going their hometowns in Konkan is done. People can use MSRTC buses to visit Raigad, Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri till August 12. All people should be under home quarantine for 10 days as per the ICMR guidelines.
