DMK leaders pay tribute to M Karunanidhi on his 2nd death anniversary

Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leaders paid tribute to former chief minister M Karunanidhi on his second death anniversary on August 07. DMK president MK Stalin paid homage to Karunanidhi. Party's MP Kanimozhi along with other leaders also paid tribute to the former Tamil Nadu chief minister. M Karunanidhi had the longest tenure as chief minister of Tamil Nadu and had served for almost two decades over five terms between 1969 and 2011.

While speaking to ANI in Chennai on July 02, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader Kanimozhi spoke on Tuticorin custodial death case. She said, "The arrest is very much delayed and I don't understand what the government's hesitation was as they could have done it much earlier so that people will have faith in system." "They have completely shaken people's faith in the govt and entire system because of their delays. This kind of atmosphere is very unhealthy," she added. "I hope that the govt doesn't interfere and they will not try to indulge in tampering of evidence or anything. I hope the investigation should go in right way," DMK leader further stated. Five police officials including a sub inspector and two constables have been arrested in custodial death of father-son duo.

War over three-language formula in NEP 2020: Who said what

A huge language war has erupted over the Modi government's New Education Policy 2020. The AIADMK and the DMK have raised the red flag over the three language policy in the NEP. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister E Palaniswami has said that Tamil Nadu will not implement the 3 language policy and will stick to the dual language policy. He also called the three language formula painful and saddening and urged the Prime Minister to reconsider the three language formula. Meanwhile, DMK chief MK Stalin also attacked the Modi government over the issue. He also slammed PM Modi's assertion that the NPE would ensure education is provided to all sections of society. Stalin said that the NPE would result in education becoming a privilege of the select few in the next 10 years. Though the three-language policy gives powers to states to decide on what that language would be taught, political parties in Tamil Nadu see this as a tacit attempt by the centre to impose Hindi. DMK protests against inflated electricity bills in Chennai

Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam president MK Stalin protested outside his residence in Chennai against Tamil Nadu government on July 21. Protest was carried out against the inflated electricity bills. DMK has also called for a state wide protest on July 21 against power tariff issue in the state.
