Nagpur: A technician with the Indian Air Force (IAF) was duped to the tune of Rs6 lakhs by a fraudster, identifying himself as ‘Ajay Kumar’, on the pretext of availing a credit card of his bank. An offence of cheating has been registered by Hudkeshwar police.
It’s learnt that the IAF employee had called up the customer care of a private bank. He wanted to get a credit card issued. Though the call did not get connected, he received a return call from ‘Ajay Kumar’ who claimed to be from customer care. Kumar had sent the IAF employee a link on his cell phone after procuring the account number of the victim by luring him with the promise to get his credit card issued soon. His account was also debited by Rs540 as processing fee.
The IAF employee was left surprised as his account was credited with Rs5.9 lakhs. Taken aback, the IAF employee called up the customer care number to cancel his request following which his account was debited by more than Rs six lakhs.
