Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched financing facility under Agriculture Infrastructure Fund and released benefits under PM-KISAN scheme via video conferencing.
"Rs 17,000 crores of PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi have been deposited into bank accounts of 8.5 crore farmers with a single click.
No middlemen or commission, it went straight to farmers.
I am satisfied because the objective of the scheme is being fulfilled," PM Modi said.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced embargo on import of 101 defence items including artillery guns, assault rifles and transport aircraft in a major reform initiative to boost the domestic defence industry. Singh tweeted saying, “Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi has given a clarion call for a self-reliant India based on the five pillars, i.e., Economy, Infrastructure, System, Demography & Demand and announced a special economic package for Self-Reliant India named ‘Atamnirbhar Bharat’”. Singh said, “Taking cue from that evocation, the Ministry of Defence has prepared a list of 101 items for which there would be an embargo on the import beyond the timeline indicated against them. This is a big step towards self-reliance in defence.” He also said the list was made after several rounds of consultations with all stakeholders, including the armed forces, public and private industry to “assess current and future capabilities of the Indian industry for manufacturing various ammunition & equipment within India”. Singh said the embargo on imports would be progressively implemented between 2020 and 2024.The announcements made by Singh are part of the government’s recent emphasis on the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission after PM Modi’s push for self-reliant India during his address to the nation in May.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on August 02 announced that his ministry will introduce import embargo on 101 items to boost domestic manufacturing of defence equipments. "The list of 101 embargoed items comprises of not just simple parts but also some high tech weapon systems like artillery guns, assault rifles, corvettes, sonar systems, transport aircraft, LCHs, radars and many other items to fulfil needs of our Defence Services," Singh elaborated his announcement. "Embargo on imports is planned to be progressively implemented between 2020 to 2024. Our aim is to apprise the Indian defence industry about the anticipated requirements of the Armed Forces so that they are better prepared to realise the goal of indigenisation," Singh further said. The policy decision is taken to make India self reliant and follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'aatmanirbhar' call to reduce dependence on other countries.
