The crippling effect of coronavirus within communities

Data obtained by ITV News has revealed the crippling impact coronavirus is likely to have on towns and cities across the UK. With the full winding down of the furlough scheme by October, more than seven per cent of the UK's workforce could be unemployed by the end of the year, according to the Bank of England. But forecasts by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation predict the potential peak unemployment rate of up to 21% in some areas across the country by the end of 2020. According to the organisation, the likeliest hardest hit areas include coastal towns, traditional Labour voting areas of the West Midlands and Northern England and suburban London boroughs. Dozens of people gather in Marble Arch in London in a All Black Lives Matter protest. The demonstrators walked from Hyde Park to Downing Street through Oxford street, in protest of racial inequality and police brutality. The group, mainly arranged by young people, are calling on the Government to commit to an end to racial discrimination in the criminal justice system, de-colonize the education system, commit to end racial disparities in the health system and implement recommendations made by MPs in reviews such as the Windrush Lessons Learnt report, Lammy Review, Timpson Review and Angiolini Review.

The head of counter terrorism policing, Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu confirms the multiple stabbings that took place in Reading yesterday has now been declared as a terrorist incident.

Johnson slams “racist thuggery” as violence escalates in London after day of protests

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has slammed the actions of some of the protesters in London today. He took to Twitter to condemn their actions after six police officers suffered minor injuries in violent clashes. Scotland Yard said that as of 5pm on June 13, they had arrested five people. By around 5.30pm, London Ambulance Service said it had treated 15 people for injuries, including two police officers. Six of these patients, all members of the public, had to be taken to hospital.
