Karnataka: Red alert in seven districts; priest still missing, brother’s body found

BENGALURU: There was some respite from rain in Kodagu and Belagavi on Saturday, allowing relief and rescue workers to reach landslide sites, while minor landslips were reported and a flood-like situation prevailed in several parts.
The situation is expected to worsen in coastal and Malnad regions as the Met department sounded a red alert for Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Kodagu, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru and Hassan, forecasting heavy to extremely heavy rains in the next 24 hours.
In Kodagu, disaster response teams found the body of the elder brother of Talacauvery chief priest TS Narayanachar, who remains missing along with three others after a massive landslide in the Brahmagiri hills.
