Bennett University won the first prize in Smart India Hackathon 2020

The winning team named as Fortify won the first prize under problem statement BC71, which was given by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs to reduce the commute time between two places in the metro cities.
Greater Noida based Bennett University (BU) has won the first prize in the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2020, software edition.

The winning team named as Fortify won the first prize under problem statement BC71, which was given by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs to reduce the commute time between two places in the metro cities. They were functioning under the nodal centre RKGIT.

Akshita Mehta led the team comprising of 6 students - Anshuman Agarwal, Naman Bansal, Shreyas Papinwar, Swapnil Panwala and Zubin Choudhary from Computer Science Engineering (CSE) Department. They built a highly scalable and deployable multi-module solution, keeping in mind all the major problems faced by regular commuters, both via busy roads and highly dense public transportation systems.


Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed the Grand Finale of Smart India Hackathon 2020 on 1st August via video conferencing. It was a highly competitive 3-day hackathon with multiple mentoring and judging rounds, all of which was done in a virtual setting and were managed by different Nodal Centres. More than 3 lakh students from all over India participated in Smart India Hackathon 2020 and developed software for 353 problem statements given by 32 Central Ministries, 13 State Ministries and Departments and 27 Private Companies and Public Sector Units.
