LUCKNOW: About one third of the
active Covid-19 patients in the state were under home isolation, according to an assessment of data on novel
coronavirus situation in the state on Friday. The assessment also revealed that the total number of persons under home isolation had doubled from 7,198 on July 31 to 15,035 on August 8.
“Over 15,000 of the total 44,563 active Covid-19 patients in the state – which is about 33% of the total – were under home isolation,” said additional chief secretary, information and home,
Awanish Awasthi. This also means that at least 33% of active cases in the state were asymptomatic. Awasthi stated that in wake of the increasing number of people availing home isolation, the CM has directed strict monitoring of the patients with the help of
Integrated Control and Command Centre. Officials stated that as many as 4,467 fresh cases in the past 24 hours took the state Covid-19 tally to 1,13,378. A look at the data revealed that 11 districts accounted for over 48% (or 2,158) of the total cases.
The list included Lucknow (707), Kanpur Nagar (393), Varanasi (271), Bareilly (211), Prayagraj (164), Gorakhpur (140),
Ghaziabad (97), Gautam Budh Nagar (61), Jhansi (42), Agra (43) and Meerut (29). The bulletin revealed that spikes were recorded in Gonda (119), Ballia, (98), Deoria (88), Bahraich (88) and Ghazipur (82). The state also recorded the death of 63 persons in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of Covid-19 deaths to 1,981.
Of the new deaths, 13 were reported in Lucknow, while nine came to fore in Kanpur Nagar. Azamgarh saw six deaths, while in Prayagraj five persons died. Gorakhpur recorded four deaths, while three persons each died in Varanasi and Ballia.
Two deaths each were reported in Bareilly and
Kushinagar, while Jhansi, Moradabad, Agra, Deoria, Ayodhta, Rampur, Shahjahanpur, Maharajganj, Sidharth Nagar, Pilibhit, Mirzapur, Bahraich, Bijnor, Mau, Badaun and Farukkhabad saw one death.
