Officials told to open relief centres

Mysuru: District nodal secretary N Jayaram on Friday rushed to Mysuru following monsoon mayhem and directed the district administration to take immediate rescue and relief measures.
Chairing a review meeting he asked the nodal officers to open ganji kendras, relief centres and goshalas near rain-affected places, He also directed them to assess crop damage.
Instructions have also been given to CESC officials to replace damaged electricity poles and clear fallen trees to restore power supply.
Deputy commissioner Abhiram G Sankar said that the district reported one rain related death and 66 houses were damaged in the first week of August. The district administration had received a communication from the government for distribution of compensation, he said.
ZP CEO Prashanthkumar Mishra, MCC commissioner Gurudatta Hegde, SP CB Rishyanth and others were present.
