Girish Chandra Murmu takes charge as Comptroller and Auditor General of the country

Girish Chandra Murmu took charge as the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of the country in Delhi on Saturday. He paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and BR Ambedkar at the CAG office after taking office. Murmu was administered the oath of office and secrecy by President Ram Nath Kovind at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Please tell that Rajiv Maharishi has retired from this post only on Saturday.

Significantly, Murmu resigned as the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. Now, former Union Minister Manoj Sinha has been appointed as the new Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir in his place.

Murmu is a 1985 batch IAS officer

Girish Chandra Murmu has replaced Rajiv Maharishi. Maharishi is a 1978 batch IAS officer of Rajasthan cadre. Murmu is a 1985 batch IAS officer. He resigned as the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. Murmu was appointed Lt. Governor in October 2019. On Wednesday, August 5, a year was completed to abolish most of the provisions of Article 370 of the Constitution giving special status to the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir. Murmu is considered close to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. When Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Murmu was elected Principal Secretary.
