6 revenue officials among 12 booked for irregularities in registry of EWS flats

Gurgaon: Twelve people, including six revenue officials of Wazirabad Tehsil, were booked for irregularities in execution of registry of flats reserved for economically weaker sections (EWS) in 2017. The case was registered on the complaints of CM flying squad of CID.
The 12 people include Girish Kumar (resident of Sector 46), Manisha (Delhi resident), Hemant Kumar (Gurgaon resident) , Kamlesh (resident of Sector 15 Part-2), Neeraj Kumar (Gurgaon resident) Bela Singh (Maharashtra resident) and deputy tehshildars of Wazirabad — Om Prakash, Rupender Singh, Om Prakash Yadav, Inderjeet Singh, Ramchandra and Jagdish Bisnoi.
As per norms, EWS property cannot be sold to third party for five years from the allotment. This is second time in a week when revenue officials have been booked for irregularities.
Rules say a builder, who gets the licence to develop a residential society has to reserve 20% of units (in group housing society) or plots for the EWS category and the property is allotted through draw of lots. Properties under the EWS category can only be allotted to people residing in Gurgaon or in Haryana.
Till now around 71 licenced colonies have developed EWS properties in the city. Essel Tower, a group housing society on MG Road, had around 236 EWS flats, of which 212 were allotted in 2017 by draw of lots.
Ramesh Kumar, who had filed a complaint highlighting the irregularities, alleged that more than 8,000 EWS flats have been sold illegally in Gurgaon. “We had filed a complaint regarding illegal registries of 303 EWS flats in March 2019,” said Kumar.
“In March 2017, flat number 206 in Essel Tower was allotted to Kamlesh, resident of Surat Nagar and conveyance deed was executed. Within a month, the same flat was sold to Manisha, resident of Delhi, and conveyance deed was executed,” Kumar said.
He alleged that Girish Kumar in connivance with revenue officials executed these fraudulent sale and purchase of properties.
Following the complaint, an investigation was initiated by CM flying squad of CID in December 2019 and multiple irregularities were found. In these cases, the properties were sold a month after being allotted and the buyers were from Delhi and Maharashtra.
“On the basis of the investigation, a case has been filed against the buyer and seller of property, middleman and revenue officials,” said DSP of CM flying squad, Inderjeet Yadav. An FIR has been register under IPC sections at Sector 29 police station.
