New South Wales has been hit with nine new cases of COVID-19 as one Sydney school was forced to close after a student tested positive.
Tangara School for Girls in Cherrybrook in the city's north-west closed for deep cleaning overnight and close contacts of the case are being notified.
From the new cases in NSW, two were returning international travellers, four were locally acquired while three have no known source.
The state's total number has now jumped to 3,662 but fears surround a second outbreak as nine of NSW's cases haven't been linked to any known infections.

'While most cases in the past week have been associated with local clusters and close contacts with known cases, nine have not been linked to known cases, indicating that COVID-19 is circulating in the community,' the health department warned.
'It's extremely important we all play our part in prevention all the time.'
There are currently 107 COVID-19 cases being treated by NSW Health, while nine are in intensive care.
The Thai Rock cluster in Wetherill Park has been associated with 111 cases while the Apollo Restaurant in Potts Point has been linked to 28 infections.
Funeral events in Bankstown have been linked to 55 cases with the Mounties club in Mount Pritchard being connected to 15 infections.
Six cases have been associated with the Thai Rock Restaurant in Potts Point.

Anyone who attended the Burrow Bar in Sydney's CBD on August 1 has been ordered to isolate immediately.
'If you attended for two hours or more between 9.45pm-midnight, you should get tested, and isolate until August 15, even if the test is negative,' a statement from NSW Health read.
'If symptoms develop, get tested again.'
Tangara School for Girls is the latest Sydney school to shut amid growing infections.
Mary Immaculate Catholic Primary in Bossley Park in the city's west will remain shut until at least August 10 after a positive case last week.

Fort Street High School in Sydney's inner west also shut and underwent deep cleaning after a student required COVID-19 testing last Wednesday.
All New South Wales residents have been barred from entering Queensland after the Sunshine State closed the border with its neighbour on Saturday.
The closure extends to Australian Capital Territory and Victorian residents.
Though that hasn't stopped many from trying to enter Queensland with more than 100 people already turned away since the early morning.
Queensland Police Services Chief Superintendent Mark Wheeler said 142 people - including 18 Queenslanders - had already been refused entry.
