NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Friday rejected the anticipatory bail plea of activist Rehana Fathima, saying that the act of uploading a video of her semi-nude body being painted by her children was “obscene and objectionable”.
An SC bench said it was wrong on her part to use minor children and such an act will create bad impression on children about the culture of the country.
Advocate Gopal Shankarnarayanan said Fathima was trying to sensitise children towards sex education and it was wrong to book her under the Pocso Act. Pressing for pre-arrest bail, he said there is no fear of her absconding. The bench, however said prima facie it seemed a case of child pornography. It said she might be indulging in other things and police needed to find out, for which custodial interrogation would be required.
