Services of Arun Senva and Ajay Shinde, both TRB jawans, were terminated by higher officials
SURAT: Services of two traffic brigade jawans have been terminated by senior officials of Surat traffic police on Saturday after a video of the jawans harassing a motorcycle rider went viral. No actions have been taken against the traffic police personnel under whose supervision the TRB jawans were on duty. Actions were taken against the two jawans after they were caught harassing a motorcycle rider in a viral video.
Services of Arun Senva and Ajay Shinde, both TRB jawans, have been terminated by deputy commissioner of police, traffic, Prashant Sumbe. Earlier an inquiry was ordered in the viral video and based on the report the actions were taken.
"After discussion with senior officials services of both the jawans are terminated," said Sumbe. Officials of city traffic police could not share details about the traffic police personnel under whose supervision the two jawans were working.
In the viral video which is believed to be of the Sahara Darwaja area one TRB jawan is seen removing the key of a motorcycle during an argument with the rider. Later the jawan pushed the motorcycle rider off the vehicle and took possession of the two wheeler. According to city traffic police rules the TRB jawan can only manage traffic and is not authorised to stop vehicles for checking or any other actions.

In January, police booked four TRB jawans including Sehbaz Sattar Ansari in Mahidhapura police station for an alleged attempt to extort Rs 1,500 from a motorcycle rider near Surat railway station.
