CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Saturday announced that public worship will be allowed in small temples in corporation areas -- that have an annual income of less than Rs 10,000 --- starting August 10. Public worships will be allowed in small mosques, darghas, churches and other religious places, as well.
The CM also announced that driving schools in the state shall function from August 10 adhering to the standard operating procedures to be released by the government.
In a statement, EPS said the government had already issued standard operating procedures for opening places of worship.
“Permission should be obtained from the commissioner of Greater Chennai Corporation and district collectors (for public worship),” the CM said. The state government has already allowed public worship in small temples, mosques, darghas, churches in panchayat, town panchayat and municipality areas.
The chief minister requested the public to adhere to standard operating procedures and contain the spread of Covid-19.
