Covid-19: Pharma company presents 1,000 vials of Remdesivir drug to UP

LUCKNOW: As many as 1,000 units of Covid-19 treatment medicines – Remdesivir – were presented to the UP government by the CSR wing of drug manufacturer Jubilant Life Sciences Limited on Saturday.
Accepting the stock, CM Yogi Adityanath said, "Remdesivir means life for severe Covid-19 patients."
To note, Remdesivir is the only antiviral drug that has received Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) by the USFDA for treatment of suspected or laboratory-confirmed Covid-19. Chairman of the pharmaceutical company, Shyam S Bhartia informed that his company has started manufacture of the drug recently.
"In May 2020, Jubilant entered into a non-exclusive Licensing Agreement with Gilead Sciences Inc. that granted us the right to register, manufacture and sell Gilead’s investigational drug remdesivir in 127 countries including India,” Bhartia said adding, "It was a matter of pride for the company to be presenting this much needed medicine to the state government."
