Nearly 100 trainee cops housed at Kalyani dam police training college test positive for Covid-19

TIRUPATI: Nearly a 100 trainee cops housed at the police training college near Kalyani dam, at Rangampeta village, near Tirupati, have reportedly tested positive for Covid-19.
Police department sources said about 380 policemen from different parts of the state are undergoing training at the police training college near Kalyani dam at present.
After Covid-19 screening was carried out on all the trainee cops, nearly a 100 of them have tested positive for Covid-19 and have been immediately quarantined.
Test results of more cops are awaited according to reliable sources.
A special sanitation drive is underway at the police training college at present which is being carried out by the Rangampet panchayat staff.
Officials said chances of closing down the police training college for a brief while was being contemplated in view of a large number of trainee cops testing positive for Covid-19.
