Man attempts to break open ATM in Thane

THANE: An unidentified robber attempted to break into an ATM to steal cash at a kiosk of a nationalised bank in Uthalsar area on Thursday.
“Around 2am, a man wearing a raincoat entered the ATM kiosk of the Bank of Baroda. The thief used a metal object and managed to damage the cash tray of the machine but failed to pull out the currency from the tray. Then the alarm went off and the man fled,” said a police officer. An offence was registered at Rabodi police station.
The police said that the ATM has no security guards but a centralised monitoring system.
