Congress leader Rahul Gandhi attacked the Center on Friday over growing coronavirus cases in India, saying the country's COVID-19 rally had crossed the 20 lakh mark and the Narendra Modi government was "missing".

India's COVID-19 total has crossed 20-lakhs late Thursday evening, while according to data provided by states and union territories, the recovery rate has increased to 13.70 lakhs.

Rahul Modi targeted the Center and said - "crossed 20 lakh mark, and the Modi government is missing".

He also tagged his July 17 tweet urging the government to take concrete steps to stop the spread of coronavirus. When he said that if the viral infection continues to spread at the current pace, by August 10, more than 2 million cases will be reported.

The Gandhi family has so far questioned the central government's claims of fighting coronavirus. India ranks third in the world in terms of COVID-19 cases after the US and Brazil. The death toll due to the disease in the country has exceeded 40,000.
