Telangana: Charminar cops arrest burglar; recover Rs 31 lakh cash, other valuables

HYDERABAD: Charminar police in Telangana capital Hyderabad arrested a burglar and recovered Rs 31 lakh cash and other valuables from his possession on Friday.
Acting on specific information, police arrested Mohammed Nasir, 19, a salesman from Fatima Nagar in Vattepally, in a burglary case.
Mohammed Nasir, who is a school dropout, has worked as a helper in a hotel and currently he is working as a salesman at a garments store in Rikab Gunj, Charminar. Nasir has become addicted to liquor and as his income was insufficient, he decided to commit thefts, Charminar police said.
Nasir observed that owners of a shop next to his workplace kept a significant amount of cash in the counter every night and decided to commit burglary.
As per the plan, Nasir gained entry into Burma Textiles shop in Rikabgunj during the early hours of August 4. "Nasir broke the rear door latch of Burma Textiles shop using tools and entered the shop. He opened the cash counter with scissors and stole Rs 35 lakh cash," South Zone DCP Gaja Rao Bhupal said.
Based on the complaint lodged by shop owner Kishan Masrani, police registered a burglary case and analysed the CCTV camera footage. Police identified the accused and arrested him from his house on Thursday night. Cops recovered Rs 31.3 lakh cash, a laptop, four wrist watches, two pairs of silver chains, other incriminating evidence from his possession. The accused was previously arrested in snatching cases registered at Chandrayangutta and Afzulgunj police stations when he was a juvenile offender.
