Reacting to the entry of Ponda Congress legislator Ravi Naik’s two sons into the BJP, the three-time Congress legislator of Curtorim constituency Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco alleged, “Only the scamsters are now joining the BJP, because it is the party which invites corrupt people.’’

Speaking to the media, Lourenco said, “This (instance of Ravi Naik’s sons joining the BJP) is not new. In politics, it is bound to happen as election nears. But I must tell you, people of Goa had not given mandate to the BJP.
The mandate was given to the Congress in 2017. We had 17 legislators elected. But few switched over out of fear and greed. I have stood by the party and can confidently state that people of Goa will re-elect Congress.”

Exuding confidence, he further said that the party will get elected in 2022 with a bigger margin. He said that he has worked for the party sincerely ever since 2012 when he was first elected. Lourenco said the Congress, being the 125 years old party, has very experienced politicians who will take it forward.
