Pune: Milk dairy owner robbed off gold ornaments worth Rs 23,000

Owner of a milk dairy in Phursungi near Hadapsar (Pune), was cheated by two unidentified suspects who decamped with her gold ornaments worth Rs 23,000

Pune: A 57-year-old woman, owner of a milk dairy in Phursungi near Hadapsar, was cheated by two unidentified suspects who decamped with her gold ornaments worth Rs 23 thousand after gaining her confidence while visiting the shop by asking her to remove and wrap her ornaments in an Rs 500 note for offering it to God.

The complainant Gaurabai Dole (57) has filed a complaint in this regard at the Hadapsar police station. Based on her complaint, police have lodged FIR against two unidentified men under section 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) and section 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.

According to the complaint filed by Gaurabai, she owns a milk dairy which is located at the Gurudatta Colony in Phursungi near Hadapsar. She was in the shop on Wednesday afternoon when two unidentified men came riding on a bike at her shop. They started inquiring about some products in the dairy and kept Gaurabai engaged in their talks.

After a while, they gained confidence in Gaurabai and told her that they wanted to offer Rs 500 to God at the hands of a senior citizen. The suspects took out an Rs 500 note from their pocket and asked Gaurabai to keep it in front of a deity’s frame.

A while later, they asked her to return the note. Gaurabai kept the note on the counter. The suspects then asked her to remove the gold ornaments she was wearing. The suspects then took the ornaments and wrapped them in the Rs 500 note. Gaurabai did not suspect any foul play till then but suddenly the suspects decamped with the gold ornaments.

Upon realising that she has been cheated, Gaurabai approached the Hadapsar police and filed a complaint against the suspects. Assistant Police Inspector Gade is investigating the case.
