Karnataka: Konkan Railway traffic diverted due to tunnel lining collapse

The lining of the wall inside the Pernem tunnel was damaged due to incessant rains.
MANGALURU: Train traffic was hit on the Konkan Railway route on Friday after incessant rains led to the collapse of a tunnel lined wall inside Pernem tunnel between Madure and Pernem station on Thursday.
This forced the Konkan Railway authorities to suspend traffic on that section till further notice and divert all trains on the route via the Madgaon, Londa, Miraj, Pune, Panvel route. Officials have rushed to the site for early restoration with men and machinery.
Due to this incident five trains have been diverted. They are Train No. 02617 Ernakulam – H. Nizamuddin Superfast Special Express; Train No. 06346 Thiruvananthapuram Central – Lokmanya Tilak (T) Special Express; Train No. 02432 New Delhi - Thiruvananthapuram Central Rajdhani Special Express; Train No. 02618 H. Nizamuddin – Ernakulam Superfast Special Express; all that department on August 5 and Train No. 06345 Lokmanya Tilak (T) - Thiruvananthapuram Central of August 6.
