Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called upon the students sitting at home this year to join the Independence Day program through essay competition due to the closure of the school. Students of 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade on self-sufficient India-independent India subject can send innovative .mygov.in/essay-competition as an essay on ten topics till 14 August.

Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said that on the theme of self-reliant India-Swatant Bharat, students will have to write their views on various topics in essay form. It is organized jointly by the Ministry of Education and MyGOV. The essay competition will have two classes of students from high school and senior secondary school. In this, NCERT will cooperate as a nodal agency.
