Representative imageBENGALURU: A cloth merchant slit his ex-wife's throat hours after divorcing her in his rental house in JP Nagar on Wednesday.
Kaleem Sharif, 48, fought frequently with Nazneen, 46, accusing her of being unfaithful. The couple also argued over financial issues and finally agreed to go in for a mutual divorce after 25 years of marriage.
They have five children; two daughters and one son stay separately.
Sharif and Nazneen went to a masjid near Bannerghatta on Wednesday morning and formalised their divorce.
"But once they were back home, Sharif and Nazeen argued again and an angry Sharif took a knife from the kitchen and slit her throat," said Harish Pandey, deputy commissioner of police (south).
The couple's 14-year-old daughter and 17-year-old son were inside the house when the murder took place, police said.
Sharif fled from the spot but was arrested on Thursday morning.
