The investigation around late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death took a turn on Thursday as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered a case against actor Rhea Chakraborty and others. Releasing a statement, CBI stated, “CBI has today registered a case related to the death of Sh. Sushant Singh Rajput on the request of Bihar Govt and further notification from Govt of India and taken over the investigation of the case, earlier registered at police station Rajiv Nagar, Patna vide FIR no.241/2020 dated 25-7-2020. The case was registered against 6 accused and others.”
Sushant Singh Rajput’s father KK Singh had earlier lodged an FIR against actor Rhea Chakraborty and five others, including three of her family members, for abetment of suicide. The FIR was filed under IPC Sections 306 (abetment of suicide), 341 (wrongful restraint), 342 (wrongful confinement), 380 (theft in dwelling house), 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating).
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) also summoned Chakraborty in connection to the money laundering case based on the FIR filed by Sushant’s father. Chakraborty will have to appear before the agency on August 7.
In the FIR, KK Singh also claimed, “My son was at the peak of his acting career till May 2019. During that period, Rhea and her relatives developed an acquaintance with my son, under a deliberate conspiracy, so that Rhea could establish herself in the film industry and with an eye on Sushant’s wealth… He was later made to rent a house that was haunted, and that had an impact on my son.”
Meanwhile, Aditya Thackeray, Dino Morea and Sooraj Pancholi, whose name have been dragged into Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case have released statements claiming no connection to the actor’s death. Morea took to Twitter and shared a video in which claims of a party at his residence on June 13, a day before Sushant’s death, were made by Senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Narayan Rane.
The actor wrote, “There was never any such gathering at my residence, pls get your facts right before making these allegations.” He added, “DO NOT drag my name into this as I have no connection whatsoever with this.”
Sushant Singh Rajput's sister Shweta Singh Kirti posted a photo on Instagram with a placard in her hand that read, "We will win. Love you bhai. God is with us." She captioned the photo as, "We will get justice... we will find the truth!! 🙏#warriors4ssr #justiceforsushantsinghrajput #godiswithus"
Ram N. Diwakar, who shared the screen with Sushant Singh Rajput in Sonchiriya, posted a throwback video of the late actor on Instagram.
'The Centre moved the Supreme Court on Friday seeking to make itself a party to actor Rhea Chakraborty’s petition in Sushant Singh Rajput death case. Chakraborty, who is being investigated by the CBI on charges of abetting Rajput’s suicide, has sought transfer of the FIR filed against her by the Bihar Police to Mumbai. The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed a PIL seeking a CBI or NIA probe into the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, saying "strangers" are "unnecessarily" coming when his father is already pursuing the case, reported PTI. A bench comprising Chief Justice S A Bobde and Justices A S Bopanna and V Ramasubramanian junked the PIL filed by Mumbai-based law student Dwivendra Devtadeen Dubey on the issue. "Deceased's father is pursuing the case. There is no reason that he will not pursue it properly. You are a stranger in this matter and you are unnecessarily coming in this. We will not permit this," the bench said. "Don't waste our time. Dismissed," it said.
Bihar IPS officer #VinayTiwari, who came to Mumbai for probe in #SushantSinghRajput's death and was quarantined by BMC, left for Patna. He told ANI, "I would say I wasn't quarantined, the investigation was quarantined. Investigation of Bihar Police was obstructed."
Ekta Kapoor took to Instagram to share the first scene Sushant Singh Rajput shot for his debut TV show Kis Des Mein Hai Mera Dil. Along with the video, Ekta wrote, "Lots of people were asking me about Sushant’s first scene... this was the first scene we shot with him. This was his 1st scene on Television which went on-air in a show called ‘Kis Des Mein Hai Mera Dil’. He was the 2nd lead in that show, but we knew he was meant for greater things and he went and did just that. Sushant Singh Rajput's sister Shweta Singh Kriti is confident about justice being served to her brother. She shared a photo of Lord Shiva with the message, "Someone said be careful who you mess with because you don't know who protects them in the spiritual world."

The makers of Suicide or Murder – A star was lost on Friday announced that model-actor Shwetta Parashar wll be playing the female lead in the film. Claiming that the movie is not a biopic of Sushant Singh Rajput, the makers said it has been inspired by the struggles of several outsiders who hope to make it big in the industry.
Earlier, it was announced that TikTok sensation Sachin Tiwari will be playing the 'outsider', while model Rana will play 'a big-shot film producer who only launches star kids' in the movie. Directed by Shamik Maulik, the film will go on floors in September. The makers hope to release the film by Christmas.
In the view of Disha Salian's death and the rumours around its link to Sushant Singh Rajput’s suicide, Mumbai Police on Wednesday issued a press release asking anyone with information to assist the police with the investigation.
Bihar IPS officer Vinay Tiwari spent his last five days of quarantine time in Mumbai, posting his own poetry on his Facebook and Twitter pages, though he said the police accommodation in Goregaon where he was in self-isolation, prevented him from composing more. “The location is very important for me to think, write and record my poetry,” said Tiwari, SP, Patna City (Central). A native of Lalitpur town in Uttar Pradesh, Tiwari had recorded the three poems he posted online this week at the Ranchod Dham Temple on the banks of Betwa river.

The Bihar police in its affidevit told the Supreme Court, "the “forcible quarantine” of Bihar IPS officer Vinay Tiwari in Mumbai “is nothing but a result of afterthought… aimed at obstructing” the probe and “casts a serious aspersion on the role of Mumbai Police who is apparently siding with” Chakraborty “for the reasons best known to them.”

The Indian Express's Omkar Gokhale further tweeted that Additional Solicitor General Anil Singh for Centre submitted that to unearth the truth, Mumbai Police should not stand in a way of entrustment of case to CBI. "Manner in which Maharashtra Government is handling the case is questionable," ASG said.
A bench led by Chief Justice Dipankar Datta said that it cannot rush into hearing PILs in view of pending plea before SC. "We have to be cautious. There are judgements that say the discretion to transfer investigations to CBI has to be used sparingly," The Indian Express's Omkar Gokhale added.
