
The investigation around late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death took a turn on Thursday as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered a case against actor Rhea Chakraborty and others. Releasing a statement, CBI stated, “CBI has today registered a case related to the death of Sh. Sushant Singh Rajput on the request of Bihar Govt and further notification from Govt of India and taken over the investigation of the case, earlier registered at police station Rajiv Nagar, Patna vide FIR no.241/2020 dated 25-7-2020. The case was registered against 6 accused and others.”
Sushant Singh Rajput’s father KK Singh had earlier lodged an FIR against actor Rhea Chakraborty and five others, including three of her family members, for abetment of suicide. The FIR was filed under IPC Sections 306 (abetment of suicide), 341 (wrongful restraint), 342 (wrongful confinement), 380 (theft in dwelling house), 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating).
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) also summoned Chakraborty in connection to the money laundering case based on the FIR filed by Sushant’s father. Chakraborty will have to appear before the agency on August 7.
In the FIR, KK Singh also claimed, “My son was at the peak of his acting career till May 2019. During that period, Rhea and her relatives developed an acquaintance with my son, under a deliberate conspiracy, so that Rhea could establish herself in the film industry and with an eye on Sushant’s wealth… He was later made to rent a house that was haunted, and that had an impact on my son.”
Meanwhile, Aditya Thackeray, Dino Morea and Sooraj Pancholi, whose name have been dragged into Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case have released statements claiming no connection to the actor’s death. Morea took to Twitter and shared a video in which claims of a party at his residence on June 13, a day before Sushant’s death, were made by Senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Narayan Rane.
The actor wrote, “There was never any such gathering at my residence, pls get your facts right before making these allegations.” He added, “DO NOT drag my name into this as I have no connection whatsoever with this.”

As reported by The Indian Express, Rhea and her brother Showik Chakraborty came to the ED office after noon on Friday after the ED rejected her request to postpone the questioning till the Supreme Court heard her petition, seeking transfer of the case lodged by Bihar police to Mumbai. “In view of the fact that the ED has informed the media that the request to postpone her attendance is rejected, Rhea has appeared before the ED office,” her advocate Satish Maneshinde said, adding that she is a law-abiding citizen and would cooperate with the probe.
IPS officer Vinay Tiwari returned to Patna on Friday declined to share the findings of the investigation carried out by his team asserting that doing so would be "inappropriate", reported PTI. "I must add, our investigation had progressed at great speed in 10 days and had moved in the right direction," he said.

On Friday, PTI reported that the CBI has collected the case diary and related documents from the Bihar police in connection with the alleged suicide of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
As reported by The Indian Express, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday questioned actor Rhea Chakraborty for nearly eight hours in connection with its money laundering case against her and her family members. The ED case is based on an FIR filed on a complaint by actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s father KK Singh in Patna, accusing Chakraborty and her family members of cheating and siphoning funds from Rajput’s bank accounts.

'The Centre moved the Supreme Court on Friday seeking to make itself a party to actor Rhea Chakraborty’s petition in Sushant Singh Rajput death case. The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed a PIL seeking a CBI or NIA probe into the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, saying "strangers" are "unnecessarily" coming when his father is already pursuing the case, reported PTI. A bench comprising Chief Justice S A Bobde and Justices A S Bopanna and V Ramasubramanian junked the PIL filed by Mumbai-based law student Dwivendra Devtadeen Dubey on the issue. "Deceased's father is pursuing the case. There is no reason that he will not pursue it properly. You are a stranger in this matter and you are unnecessarily coming in this. We will not permit this," the bench said. "Don't waste our time. Dismissed," it said.
Bihar IPS officer #VinayTiwari, who came to Mumbai for probe in #SushantSinghRajput's death and was quarantined by BMC, left for Patna. He told ANI, "I would say I wasn't quarantined, the investigation was quarantined. Investigation of Bihar Police was obstructed."
Ekta Kapoor took to Instagram to share the first scene Sushant Singh Rajput shot for his debut TV show Kis Des Mein Hai Mera Dil. The makers of Suicide or Murder – A star was lost on Friday announced that model-actor Shwetta Parashar wll be playing the female lead in the film. Claiming that the movie is not a biopic of Sushant Singh Rajput, the makers said it has been inspired by the struggles of several outsiders who hope to make it big in the industry.
Earlier, it was announced that TikTok sensation Sachin Tiwari will be playing the 'outsider', while model Rana will play 'a big-shot film producer who only launches star kids' in the movie. Directed by Shamik Maulik, the film will go on floors in September. The makers hope to release the film by Christmas.
