Army flag march after Assam unrest

GUWAHATI: The Army conducted a flag march on Thursday in Thelamara and Dhekiajuli, in Assam’s Sonitpur district, where Bajrang Dal members were attacked when they took out a bike rally to celebrate the groundbreaking ceremony for the Ram temple in Ayodhya the previous day.
CM Sarbananda Sonowal said, “I have directed the DGP to conduct an inquiry. I appeal to all sections of people to maintain peace and harmony.”
Indefinite curfew has been clamped in areas under the jurisdictions of the two police stations. Sonitpur police said Army personnel conducted a flag march on the district administration’s request. “We have already detained two people for questioning.... The situation is under control,” police said.
