A 69-year-old man killed his son-in-law after watching his daughter being beaten up by her drunken husband
Pimpri: A 69-year-old man killed his son-in-law after watching his daughter being beaten up by her drunken husband. The police have identified the deceased as Uday Lokhande (35), a resident of Charoli in Pimpri Chinchwad area.
The incident took place at Charholi where the son-in-law was harassing his wife after consumption of liquor. The incident came to light after the deceased Uday’s father lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against Hanumant Gyanoba Sonawane (69) and his son Kiran Hanumant Sonawane (34) with Alandi police station which falls under the jurisdiction of Pimpri Chinchwad police commissionerate. The father, son duo are arrested under the relevant sections of Indian Penal Code comprises of Murder (302) and an act was done by them with common intention (34).
According to the police officials, “The incident took place on August 5. Complainant’s son Uday was addicted to alcohol. He and his wife used to quarrel on a daily bases for petty reasons and Uday used to beat and abuse his wife. Hanumant and brother-in-law Kiran got into an argument because of the constant quarrels between the duo husband and wife.”
“The couple planned to separate where the women wanted to go back to her maternal house. Uday started fighting and abusing the family members of his wife which landed into a fight. Uday thrashed and manhandled Hanumant. His son Kiran could not bear his father being fallen down on which he and Uday got into a fight. With some hard and sharp objects, Kiran and his father injured Uday on his head, limbs and back. Uday fell unconscious and was rushed to the hospital immediately but he was declared dead,” the officials added.
The police are investigating the matter.
