The schools have been closed since March due to the outbreak of COVID-19 across the country and since then students have been taking online classes. But now once again schools are to be opened soon. The central government is planning to open schools, under which senior students can be called in shifts.

According to government officials, HRD, Health, and Home Ministry are all planning to open schools after the deadline of 31 August. The new guidelines are likely to be released by the Ministry of Home Affairs on 1 September.

According to a government official, the HRD Ministry wants the Ministry of Home Affairs to open schools, while the Ministry of Home Affairs is planning, while the Health Ministry is drafting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Regarding how the schools should be opened, the government will take steps keeping all the issues in mind and under this, discussions are being held with everyone. There is a suggestion that instead of opening all the schools simultaneously, the center should open some schools first.

The HRD had sought their feedback from parents and the states regarding when to open in August, September or October. But there is no final guideline regarding this.
