Five flee home isolation after testing +ve for Covid, booked

Gurgaon: Five Covid-19 patients have gone missing from home isolation in Mullahera area, health department officials said. The patients — four in their early 20s and one in late 40s — tested positive between July 28 and August 2.
The four patients had submitted their samples at the primary health centre of Mullahera in between July 28 to August 2 and their test results were out within 48 hours of sample collection.
The health officials had called them on their given mobile numbers to inform them about their report status and advised them to remain in home isolation.
After some days, the officials again called the patients to enquire about their health condition but their mobile phones were switched off. Following this, the list of these patients were shared with the police. On August 3, a police team went to the given addresses of these patients for verification and found the addresses to be wrong.
“The health officials had taken details of their Aadhaar cards, local address and phone numbers. The local addresses mentioned by the patients were found to be wrong and they have also switched off their mobile phones,” a police officer said, adding that the patients might have gone out of the city.
On the basis of a complaint by the health department, a case has been registered against the patients under sections 269 (negligent act to spread infection), 270 (spread infection of disease), 271 (disobey government order), 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of IPC and section of the Disaster Management Act at Palam Vihar police station.
