
Mumbai University First Merit List 2020 LIVE Updates: The Mumbai University will release the first cut-off or merit list for admission in undergraduate courses today. The candidates can check the details at the official website – mu.ac.in. As per the revised admission schedule released, the first merit list will be released at 11 am.
This year, the cut-off is expected to go high as the HSC or class 12 result recorded the highest pass percentage at 90.66 per cent, a significant jump of 4.78 per cent from last year. Last year, the cut-off at Mithibai College of Arts was over 94 per cent, while at St. Xavier’s college, the cut-off stood at 98.42 per cent for other boards, 92.31 per cent for HSC Open.
The students can get their documents verified and pay their fees from the next day onwards. The final date to get the documents verified is on August 10 (up to 3 pm). The second merit list will be released at 7 pm on August 11 and the same procedure of verification and payment will be followed till August 17 (up to 3 pm). The third merit list will be released on August 17.

In the recently released NIRF ranking, Mumbai University was ranked at 65th best university across India. The top 5 ranks were taken by Indian Institute of Science, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Banaras Hindu University, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, and Jadavpur University, respectively. The admission process of all these universities is also open.
Students can also go to the websites of different colleges affiliated to the Mumbai University and check the cut-off for those colleges.
In case a student does not get through in the first list or does not get a college or course of choice in it, they can wait for the second and third lists. The second merit list will be released on August 11, and the third merit list on August 17.
The first cut-off list is out but the site has gone unresponsive. Many students are not able to see the list due to heavy load. This year, due to the pandemic, digital is the only mode by which the cut-off lists will be available.
Last year, at Mithibai College, the cut-off for BA programme was 95.24 per cent. The Poddar College, Matunga has demanded 94 per cent for B.Com (Hons) course. For Arts and Science programme, the cut-offs are 86.31 per cent and 89.80 per cent.

The varsity recently announced a new centre for research on economy on the 100th foundation day of Mumbai School of Economics and Public Policy (formerly economics department) on August 1. The varsity received a fund of Rs 5 crore to establish the centre by Dr S A Dave, alumni and former chairman of United Trust of India

Over 2,20,400 students had registered for admission to the various courses offered by the Mumbai University last year for the academic session 2019-2020
