Haryana: One Covid-19 death, 77 fresh cases, 32 discharged in Ambala

AMBALA: Ambala recorded its 18th death due to Covid-19 as a diabetic man succumbed at a private hospital in Panchkula, while the district also reported 77 fresh positive cases on Thursday, said civil surgeon Dr Kuldeep Singh.
“A 78-year-old man of Ambala city died due to Covid-19 at Alchemist Hospital in Panchkula on Thursday. He was a patient of diabetes and had a problem in his lungs too. He was admitted at Alchemist Hospital in Panchkula since June 17 and he started developing Covid-19 symptoms on June 15. From last four-five days, he was suffering fever and he was tested for Covid-19 on June 22, in which he had tested positive. Despite all efforts, the patients could not survive and he died of Covid-19 on Thursday morning. The cremation of deceased has been conducted at a designated crematorium in Ambala City”, said Dr Kuldeep.
“A total of 77 people tested positive for Covid-19 in Ambala on Thursday, of which, 35 are from Mullana area, 12 from Ambala City, 10 from Chourmastpur, nine from Ambala Cantt, five from Shahzadpur, and three each from Barara and Naraingarh”, said Dr Kuldeep.
“The biggest spike on the day is from a single rice mill in Samalheri village community health centre (CHC) area in Mullana, as 35 cases have been detected from that particular establishment only. Rapid antigen testing and sampling was conducted at the rice mill as nine cases were detected earlier from there on Tuesday. So far, we have detected 44 cases in five days from this rice mill only. All of the workers have been isolated and administration is working to sanitize the area”, said Dr Kuldeep.
“In some relief, 32 people also got discharged as they reported negative for Covid-19 in Ambala on Thursday”, he said.
“With the recovery rate of 80.71%, the case tally reached 1,887 in Ambala on Thursday, of which; 1,523 patients got discharged, 18 died and 346 are active cases”, said Dr Kuldeep.
“So far, we have collected a total of 40,662 samples for Covid-19 testing in Ambala and collected 33,485 samples per 10 lakh population in the district”, added Dr Kuldeep.
