4 simple smoothie bowl recipes to try at home for an Instagram-worthy breakfast

From a chocolate bowl for people with a sweet tooth to a ‘beachside’ bowl that will remind you of the summer, these easy and delicious smoothies will help upgrade your Instagram feed

Smoothies have probably been a part of your breakfast rotations for a while now. However, on the days you want to play it up for the ’gram, you need to do smoothie bowls. Easy to make—all you need is your favourite fruits, seeds, and granola—they make for a great Instagrammable meal, and are nutritious too. Vogue got Sahil Marwaha, the founder of Delhi's newest healthy eatery, Dirty Good, to share some recipes for your morning bowl. 

1. Recipe: “The Warrior” smoothie bowl

“This chocolate bowl made with the cleanest possible ingredients. Full of energy, protein and good fats, this one is perfect for the chocolate loving people out there.”

Ingredients: 

  • 3 ripe bananas

  • 3 dates

  • 1 tbsp all natural peanut butter

  • 1 ½ tbsp 100 per cent Belgian cocoa powder

  • 1 tbsp Indian organic cacao

  • ½ cup almond milk

  • ¼ cup cold brew coffee

  • Few drops of vanilla extract

  • 1 pinch of pink salt

  • Granola, cacao nibs and berries, to garnish

Method: 

  1. 1

    Add all ingredients into the mixer and blend until it's nice and smooth.

    Topped with vegan and gluten-free granola, organic cacao nibs and berries.

2. Recipe: “Into the wild” smoothie bowl

“It's a bowl that's full of the goodness of nature. It's light, sweet and tangy; tastes like popsicle (did anyone say there's kale in it?). It's a refreshing and healthy lunch option.”

Ingredients: 

  • 1 banana

  • ½ cup sweet mango

  • ⅔ cup mix of apple and papaya

  • Handful of kale and spinach

  • ½ teaspoon chia seed

  • ½ teaspoon flax seed

  • ⅓ cup cold-pressed orange juice

  • ½ cup almond milk (or oat milk)

  • Organic jaggery (optional)

  • Pomegranate, chia seeds, desiccated coconut and flax seeds, to garnish

Method:

    Add all ingredients into the mixer and blend until it's nice and smooth.

    Top with pomegranate, chia seed, desiccated coconut and flax seed.

3. Recipe: “Beachside” smoothie bowl

“A breezy bowl that is perfect for our Indian summer! Makes you feel like you're sitting on the beach while you're safely quarantining.”

Ingredients:

  • 1 ripe banana

  • ½ cup of papaya

  • ½ cup mango

  • ½ cup pineapple

  • ½ cup cold coconut milk

  • 1 tsp of jaggery

  • 2 tsp of chia seeds

  • 2 drops drops of vanilla extract

  • Granola, pumpkin seeds, berries and pomegranate, to garnish

Method: 

  1. 1

    Add all ingredients into the mixer and blend until it's nice and smooth.

  2. 2

    Top it with granola, pumpkin seeds, different berries and pomegranate.

4. Recipe: “Berry to-go” smoothie bowl

“You can never go wrong with a berry smoothie! It's loaded with antioxidants, fibre and high in Vitamin C from all the berries. Chia seeds are an excellent source of Omega-3 fatty acids, rich in antioxidants, and they provide fibre, iron, and calcium.”

Ingredients:

  • 1 ripe banana

  • ¾ cup mixed berries

  • ¼ apple

  • ⅓ cup of black grapes

  • 1 tsp chia seeds

  • 1 tbsp almond butter (or peanut butter)

  • 1 tsp of jaggery

  • ½ cup almond milk (or the milk of your choice)

  • Toppings of your choice

 Method: 

  1. 1

    Place all ingredients into a mixer and blend until thick and smooth. Pour into a bowl.

  2. 2

    Top it with chia seeds, cacao nibs, desiccated coconut, goji berries, bananas, more berries, sweet granola and almond butter.
