Ludhiana records 226 new Covid cases, 11 more deaths

LUDHIANA: Deputy commissioner Varinder Sharma on Thursday informed that under the "Mission Fateh" of the Punjab government, the number of Covid-19 patients getting cured in Ludhiana is increasing with each passing day. He said that there are 1,423 active patients in the district at present.
He said that sincere efforts are being made to keep people safe from Covid-19.
"A total of 226 patients (209 new patients from district Ludhiana and 17 from other states/districts) have tested positive in the last 24 hours," the deputy commissioner added.
"Total 68,602 samples have been taken, out of which report of 66,231 samples has been received, in which 61,304 samples turned out be negative and report of 2371 samples is pending. The total number of patients related to Ludhiana is 4,385 while 542 patients are residents other districts/states," Sharma said.
He said that unfortunately, 11 patients lost their lives on Thursday (nine from Ludhiana while one each from districts Fatehgarh Sahib and Sangrur). Now, the total number of persons who lost their lives include 138 people from Ludhiana and 43 from other districts.
The deputy commissioner informed that till date, 23,970 people have been kept under home quarantine in the district and at present, the number of such people is 4,674. On Thursday, 403 people were sent for home quarantine.
He said that whenever the district administration and health department, Ludhiana finds out any positive or suspected Covid-19 person, her\his sample is immediately sent for testing. Similarly, 954 samples of suspected patients were sent for testing on Thursday and their results are expected shortly.
Mr Sharma appealed to the residents to follow all directions of the Punjab government and if they would stay indoors, they would not only stay safe themselves but would also contribute to keeping everyone around safe.
