Death of Sri Lankan underworld don in Coimbatore: CB-CID probing chances of LTTE link

COIMBATORE: The CB-CID probing the death of Sri Lankan underworld don Angoda Lokka in Coimbatore is looking into the possibility of an LTTE link in the case. CB-CID IG K Shankar said special teams are collecting information about the accomplices Lokka in Tamil Nadu and other states.
Addressing reporters at the office of the CB-CID, the IG said the seven special teams were working on various angles.
"We are also checking the money transactions of many bank accounts belonged to Madurai-based lawyer Sivakami Sundari. We want to confirm that who are sending money to her bank accounts and whether she received money from abroad," he added.
The woman lawyer's father is an LTTE (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam) sympathizer and he was also booked by Madurai police. "We are trying to establish the link between lawyer's father and the LTTE. One team is working on that," said Shankar.
RAW and other intelligence agencies are also gathering information in connection with the case.
He added that the viscera of Angoda Lokka had been sent to the forensic science lab in Chennai for DNA analysis. "We are trying to establish if the deceased is Angoda Lokka or not through DNA match and the cause of his death,” he said.
"We hope that we would get the DNA report within four days. Once we complete the investigation from our side, we would approach out counterparts in Sri Lanka to confirm the DNA match," said Shankar.
Amani Dhanji, who had stayed with Angoda Lokka in Coimbatore since February 2020, was arrested along with the Madurai-based lawyer and Dhayaneswaran by the Coimbatore city police.
He added that the team was going to take custody of the lawyer, Dhanji and Dhayaneswaran. The role of the trio could be established only after questioning them in custody.
The CB-CID and a team of police conducted a search at in the house where Lokka stayed. "The team found protein supplements in the house which we sent for test to find out whether it has poisonous substances or not, " said Shankar.
