SAUGUS — Three police officers were stabbed or slashed Thursday morning in a residential Saugus neighborhood, according to a spokesperson who represents the police department.

A public relations firm representing the department tweeted that the three officers are expected to survive. A neighbor told WCVB they saw three officers being taken from the area by ambulance.

The suspect is in custody and was not seriously injured, the spokesperson said.

"No danger to the community at this time," the PR firm wrote.
