NEW DELHI: Metal shares were trading on a positive note on Thursday's afternoon session.
Shares of Hindustan Zinc (up 8.11 per cent), Steel Authority of India (up 2.45 per cent), JSW Steel (up 1.74 per cent), Tata Steel (up 1.38 per cent) and NMDC Ltd (up 1.27 per cent) were among the top gainers.
While Jindal Steel & Power (down 0.18 per cent) was the lone loser in the index.
The S&P BSE Metal index was trading 1.25 per cent up at 8383.12 around 03:23PM.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 101.20 points at 11202.85, while the BSE Sensex was up 370.16 points at 38033.49.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 38 were trading in the green, while 12 were in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Alok Industries, Federal Bank and SBI were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
