Power minister on promoting local solar mfg

After restricting equipment imports, the government is looking to promote local manufacturing in the solar energy sector with a 5% interest subvention scheme, power and renewable energy minister RK Singh told ET’s Sarita C Singh and Himangshu Watts in an interview on Thursday. He said high capital cost is a deterrent to boosting local manufacturing capacity and advocated that if India has to import it should do so from any country other than
