German newlyweds missing in WA outback were due to fly home

A couple missing in WA’s North West were due to fly home to Germany soon, according to a worried friend of the newlyweds.

German nationals Benjamin Kress, 29, and Nathalie Eich, 26, were travelling through the Kimberley and had told family they planned to drive from 80 Mile Beach to Gibb River Road.

Don Dungey, a friend of the couple, said the pair, who got married in Kalgoorlie less than a month ago, had planned to come back to Perth to stay with him before their scheduled flight to Germany.

“Everyone is so, so worried,” he said in a social media post.

“Can everyone please share the photo. I’m so worried and concerned about my dear friends. Cheers everyone and please, please keep an eye out.”

A police spokeswoman said the couple were travelling in a silver 2002 Nissan Patrol, with Victorian registration 1MF9YK.

"Family and friends have not had contact with Benjamin and Nathalie [in two weeks] which is out of character and concerns are held for their welfare," she said.
