Noida: Five persons, including a member of the Randeep Bhati gang, were arrested for allegedly firing at the car and house of a family in Surajpur on Monday.
Ropi (31), a shooter in the Bhati gang who has seven cases of murder, attempt to murder and rioting against him, had allegedly provided three guns to the others to threaten Surajpur resident Sandeep and his family. It started with a minor dispute. Sandeep’s friend Gaurav had first slapped Akash, a barber. The accused who fired at Sandeep’s house were known to Akash. “Both parties lodged complaints against each other at Kasna police station over destruction of property. But both the sides later arrived at a resolution,” an officer said.
Apart from Ropi, the others who were arrested are Atul Sharma, Hitesh Sharma, Gaurav Sharma and Lokesh. Pradeep Tripathi, the SHO of Surajpur police station, said Ropi was present at the spot when the firing took place on Monday.
However, the family of Sandeep told police that that Ropi and Lokesh had no role in the firing. The family said that they did not know why they had been arrested at all
Asked about the claim by Sandeep, Tripathi said the family could be wary of the influence that Ropi wielded in the village. Three country-made pistols and nine live cartridges were recovered from the accused.
