Bharatiya Janata Party's strongman and former Minister of State for Railways Manoj Sinha will now become the new Lieutenant Governor of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. President Ram Nath Kovind has accepted the resignation of Girish Chandra Murmu. And he has appointed Manoj Sinha as the new Deputy Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. GC Murmu took charge as the first LG of Jammu and Kashmir on October 31, 2019. He is a 1985 batch IAS officer of Gujarat cadre. Girish Chandra Murmu resigned from his post on Wednesday evening. Murmu has resigned at a time when the completion of one year of the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. With the removal of Article 370, the state was divided into two union territories as Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Murmu was sworn in as the Deputy Governor on 31 October 2019. During the reign of Murmu, Kashmir has moved rapidly towards peace, stability, and development. There has been a huge reduction in incidents of terrorism or stone-pelting in the state.

Manoj Sinha has been an MP from Ghazipur in the past and is a big face of the Bharatiya Janata Party in eastern Uttar Pradesh. However, he lost the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. This is the reason why he did not get a place in the Union Cabinet this time. However, Manoj Sinha was a minister in the first term of the Modi government and held the charge of Minister of State for Railways and Minister of State for Communications.
