Toyota India is all set to launch a more sportier-looking Fortuner TRD in the coming days. This is not the first time we are seeing the Fortuner TRD as the carmaker earlier launched a TRD celebratory limited edition back in September 2019.

Just like before, this upcoming limited edition is likely to come with sportier bumpers, blacked-out alloy wheels, and TRD badging all around. It could also utilise a different colour scheme and TRD insignia on the inside to differentiate it from the standard model. TRD stands for Toyota Racing Department.

The upcoming TRD edition could be based on a 4WD variant when compared to the earlier Toyota Fortuner TRD which was based on the diesel 4X2 variant. This is supported by the fact that the teaser depicts off-roading in the sand dunes.
Currently, the Fortuner is offered with a 166PS 2.7-litre petrol and a 177PS 2.8-litre diesel engine. While the petrol version is offered in a rear-wheel-drive guise, the diesel variant can be had with a proper 4X4 drivetrain. Both versions can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The upcoming Toyota Fortuner TRD is likely to be based on the top 4WD variants with prices likely to range around Rs 35 lakh (ex-showroom). Yes, it will be priced at a premium. But if you want a Fortuner that looks sportier than the standard model, we suggest you wait.
