Home treatment for over 50% Covid patients in Haryana

Gurgaon: More than half the Covid-19 patients in the state have been placed in home isolation, keeping the stress on its health infrastructure at a manageable level. Gurgaon accounts for the highest number of people placed in home isolation so far.
Till now, Haryana has reported a total of 37,796 cases, of which 20,330 patients, or nearly 54%, have been put under home isolation. Out of those, 16,644 patients have already been declared as recovered while four people have succumbed to the infection. A total of 500 patients who were initially under home isolation were referred to Covid care centres.
A look at the state’s active cases, which stood at 6,263 as of Wednesday, shows that more than half of those — 3,182 — are in home isolation as well.
According to the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) data, at 85%, Rewari has the largest proportion of patients under home isolation, followed by Gurgaon at 78%, Faridabad at 69% and Jind at 66%.
Gurgaon has the maximum number of patients under home isolation and the maximum number of recoveries under this category as well. The district has a total of 9,398 cases, out of which 7,200 patients have been placed under home isolation. Of these, 6,444 patients recovered at home, another 124 were referred to home isolation centres and one person died. At present, 609 people are in home isolation.
In Faridabad, a total of 6,059 patients have been kept under home isolation so far. Of these, 5,131 patients have recovered, 165 were referred to Covid care centres and two died. Currently, there are 761 patients in active home isolation.
Meanwhile, Rewari has so far placed 1,632 of its 1,884 patients in home isolation, out of which 615 have recovered and one person was referred to a care centre. The district currently has 220 patients in home isolation. In Jind, 190 out of its total 320 patients have been placed in home isolation so far. The district has 124 active cases, of which 66 have been kept at home.
Till now, four deaths in home isolation have been reported, which is less than 1% of the state’s Covid toll of 448. Apart from Faridabad and Gurgaon, the only other district to report a death in home isolation has been Jind, where one patient succumbed.
The data shows that Faridabad has referred the highest number of home isolation cases to Covid care centres in the state, and has the highest number of Covid deaths in hospital and under home isolation as well. The health department said during a survey recently, it came into light that a large number of people in the district have low immunity.
“We conducted a survey in the areas where we are getting more Covid cases and we found that about 21,000 people have compromised immunity, and therefore, when infected, the cases turned severe in a few days,” said a Faridabad health department official.
