England vs Pakistan 1st Test Day 2 Live Cricket Score Updates:

22:29 (IST)06 Aug 2020
Naseem Shah starts with fire

Naseem Shah bowls the 13th over. And gets everybody excited with his lightning pace. Pope has a wry smile on his face as the ball pitches up after landing like the crack of doom. The slip cordon celebrates almost as if they have a wicket. 1 leg bye in Naseem's first over. 144 kph the speed of the last ball. ENG 31/3 after 13

A drinks break is taken.

22:21 (IST)06 Aug 2020
Rizwan comes up to stumps with Abbas bowling

Some more front foot no-balls being called by the third umpire in this innings. Ollie Pope, still not looking very convincing, becomes the first England batsman to reach double digits. Joe Root, at the other end, is in no hurry to move his score on from 1. Rizwan moves up to the stumps with Abbas boiwling and Root on strike. We have had quite an extraordinary innings so far. Six overs bowled by both Shaheen and Abbas. Will we see Naseem Shah, probably the fastest of the lot, some time soon? ENG 30/3 after 12

22:07 (IST)06 Aug 2020
Wasim Akram explains Shaheen's approach

Root gets off the mark after being out there for an eternity. Pushes for a single off Abbas. A rare sight for England getting runs with shots played where they want them to be played. Pope flashes at a ball but makes little contact. Wasim Akram explains Shaheen is now bowling from around the wicket to get more swing into the batsman. Wasim Akram explaining Shaheen Afridi's approach to swing bowling - cricket sometimes throws up some perfect coincidences. Not too many perfect sights for England at the moment. ENG 21/3 after 9

21:58 (IST)06 Aug 2020
Pressure for England - no runs coming off true shots

Nowehere to hide at the moment for England. Pope gets off the mark with a four, but in the most fortunate of circumstances. Catches the outside edge of his bat and goes through the slip cordon. Shaheen Shah makes the ball glide across the batsmen, bowls another maiden over. England are not bowling anyone over with their performance at the moment. 16/3 after 7

21:51 (IST)06 Aug 2020
Stokes goes for a duck - ENG 12/3

With the late movement that Shaheen is getting, Root is trying to play the ball as late as possible. Stokes is playing out of his crease, perhaps more out of habit than the need of the moment. And it backfires! Stokes is gone! For a duck! Pakistan's new ball attack is all over the home team. Abbas gets through Stokes's gate and knocks his stumps. ENG 12/3 after 5.3 overs and in a huge crisis now. Ollie Pope joins Root at 5, with the skipper shaking his head in disbelief.

WICKET

Abbas strikes! Sibley is gone this time! He goes for the Review, but in vain. That was plumb. England have lost both their openers in this new ball carnage from Pakistan's bowlers. Burns fell for 4, now Sibley falls for 8. Root is joined by Stokes at 4, with England in disarray. ENG 12/2

21:36 (IST)06 Aug 2020
Shaheen on fire

Shaheen Shah strikes! Again! Joe Root is given out lbw. Root reviews. And the decision is reversed. It would have gone too high. Root survives. But Shaheen Shah Afridi is on fire right now! Huge appeals for lbw later in the over again as Shaheen again brings it into Root's pads. Testing times for England. Testing times for the umpire. ENG 10/1 after 3

21:32 (IST)06 Aug 2020
Abbas partners Afridi

Mohammad Abbas to bowl the 2nd over. Sibley, who had a decent - if sometimes slow - series against the West Indies, is set to face a much sterner test today. Gets runs in the over, but not in the most convincing way. A thick edge runs to the third man fence. ENG 10/1 after 2

21:25 (IST)06 Aug 2020
WICKET!

Shaheen Shah Afridi strikes! Burns is out in the first over! Will this be the summer of Shaheen and Naseem (and Abbas) after all! Burns is out for 4. ENG 4/1 in the first over

Joe Root forced to come out in the first over itself. And Shaheen gets him into two minds with some late movement. Root puts his head down and stares at the ground. A nervy beginning for the home team. The Pakistan fielders are bursting with energy.

21:21 (IST)06 Aug 2020
England innings begins

Time for England to face the new-ball music from Pakistan's highly vaunted pace attack. 17-year-old Naseem Shah seen loosening up. As is Mohammad Abbas, who was the one who troubled the England batsmen the most on the ladt tour. As well as Shaheen Afridi. Who will bowl the first over. Yasir Shah also rolling his arms around in the outfield. Dom Sibley and Rory Burns walk out, with almost one full session of play left. Here we go!

21:11 (IST)06 Aug 2020
Pakistan all out for 326

Naseem Shah gets an edge to go through to the keeper. And that is the end of the innings. Pakistan have put up 326 in 109.3 overs. That's a competetive total. With the bowling arsenal Pakistan have, this upcoming passage of play will be an exciting affair. England to come out to bat in their first innings in a couple more minutes. Babar Azam impressed on Day 1, but this Pakistan innings has been headlined by a marathon 156 from opener Shan Masood.

21:09 (IST)06 Aug 2020
Shaheen shows application

Archer himself is not having the best of times at the moment. Has an exasparated look on his face as Shaheen Afridi swats him on the leg side for four. And follows up with another swat for four as Archer tries to go full. Shaheen Afridi has shown good application in his time in the sun today.

21:05 (IST)06 Aug 2020
Masood's prophetic tweet

Is Shan Masood the new Saeed Anwar? Going by his Twitter history, he could be the next Jofra Archer! Talk about being prophetic!

21:00 (IST)06 Aug 2020
Masood falls for 156

Masood falls! Finally! Stuart Broad gets the big scalp. Masood goes for the Review but replays show it would have struck the leg stump. England have struck after the break! A brilliant 156 from Masood. Off 319 balls. With 18 fours and two sixes in over from Bess. The Pakistan dressing room applaud him in. Naseem Shah comes out at 11. Pakistan 317/9

20:55 (IST)06 Aug 2020
Session 3 - Massod pulls Archer for four

All set for the last session on Day 2. Archer starts proceedings, with Joe Root not trusting spin to do the trick any more. Shan Masood faces. And pulls for four. It's been a different Masood we have seen when batting with the tail today. He moves to 156, with Archer continuing to bang it in short, come hell or high water. Shaheen Afridi, on the other hand, is showing an 'Over my dead body' attitude. Archer's length is becoming a little too predictable. PAK 318/8 after 107 overs

20:35 (IST)06 Aug 2020
Tea - PAK 312/8

125 runs and 3 wickets in 31 overs in that afternoon session. Another successful afternoon session for Pakistan. With Shan Masood carrying on, not out on 151, they have wrested the initiative in this match again. Masood is the first overseas opener since Brathwaite in 2017 to score a first innings century in England. He has a chance to become the first overseas batsman since Rahul Dravid to carry his bat when we resume play in 20 minutes. Pakistan 312/8 at Tea

20:30 (IST)06 Aug 2020
Masood attacks

With Shaheen Afridi out at 10, Shan Masood goes into attack mode! Two sixes and one four against Bess in one over as the opener finally frees his arms after a patient innings. Masood brings up his 150 with a push down to third man for a couple. What a knock this has been from him! 150 off 311 balls.

20:23 (IST)06 Aug 2020
Two in two for Archer

Two in two for Archer, who gets rid of Yasir Shah and Mohammad Abbas. Shaheen Afridi survives the hat-trick ball as Pakistan are 291/8. Archer blows open the Pakistan tail with wickets off successive deliveries - Yasir (5) out lbw before Abbas (0) snicks behind to Root first ball.

19:51 (IST)06 Aug 2020
OUT

England get a breakthrough as Dom Bess denies Shadab Khan a half-century. Shadab skies one to hand Dom his first wicket of the Test. Shadab top-edged straight into the hands of Joe Root at mid-on! PAK are 281/6.

19:40 (IST)06 Aug 2020
100 partnership

Back to back fours from Shan Masood off Dom Bess as 100-run partnership comes between him and Shadab Khan off 140 balls. PAK are 276/5 after 93.2 overs.
