England vs Pakistan (ENG vs PAK) 1st Test Day 2 Live Cricket Score Updates: England are batting in the evening session on Day 2 in the 1st Test vs Pakistan in Manchester. Shaheen Afridi picked up a wicket in the first over of the England innings, rocking the home team. Mohammad Abbas then cleaned up Dom Sibley, putting England into crisis at 12/2. Ben Stokes was out for a duck soon after, with the home team collapsing to 12/3.
Pakistan put up 326 in their first innings, with Shan Masood (156) leading the charge.Β England claimed the big wicket of Babar Azam at the outset on Day 2 of the 1st Test vs Pakistan. Shan Masood carried on his overnight innings, becoming the first Pakistani opener to face more than 200 balls in an innings in England since Saeed Anwar in 1996. With Shan Masood bringing up his 150 in the second session, Pakistan reached the Tea break at 312/8.

Naseem Shah bowls the 13th over. And gets everybody excited with his lightning pace. Pope has a wry smile on his face as the ball pitches up after landing like the crack of doom. Root gets off the mark after being out there for an eternity. Pushes for a single off Abbas. A rare sight for England getting runs with shots played where they want them to be played. With the late movement that Shaheen is getting, Root is trying to play the ball as late as possible. Stokes is playing out of his crease, perhaps more out of habit than the need of the moment. And it backfires! Stokes is gone! For a duck! Pakistan's new ball attack is all over the home team. Abbas gets through Stokes's gate and knocks his stumps. Joe Root forced to come out in the first over itself. And Shaheen gets him into two minds with some late movement. Root puts his head down and stares at the ground. A nervy beginning for the home team. The Pakistan fielders are bursting with energy.
Time for England to face the new-ball music from Pakistan's highly vaunted pace attack. 17-year-old Naseem Shah seen loosening up. As is Mohammad Abbas, who was the one who troubled the England batsmen the most on the ladt tour. As well as Shaheen Afridi. Who will bowl the first over. Yasir Shah also rolling his arms around in the outfield. Dom Sibley and Rory Burns walk out, with almost one full session of play left. Here we go!

With the bowling arsenal Pakistan have, this upcoming passage of play will be an exciting affair. England to come out to bat in their first innings in a couple more minutes. Babar Azam impressed on Day 1, but this Pakistan innings has been headlined by a marathon 156 from opener Shan Masood.
Archer himself is not having the best of times at the moment. Has an exasparated look on his face as Shaheen Afridi swats him on the leg side for four. And follows up with another swat for four as Archer tries to go full. Shaheen Afridi has shown good application in his time in the sun today.
Is Shan Masood the new Saeed Anwar? Going by his Twitter history, he could be the next Jofra Archer! Talk about being prophetic!

All set for the last session on Day 2. Archer starts proceedings, with Joe Root not trusting spin to do the trick any more. Shan Masood faces. And pulls for four. It's been a different Masood we have seen when batting with the tail today. He moves to 156, with Archer continuing to bang it in short, come hell or high water. Shaheen Afridi, on the other hand, is showing an 'Over my dead body' attitude. Archer's length is becoming a little too predictable. PAK 318/8 after 107 overs

With Shan Masood carrying on, not out on 151, they have wrested the initiative in this match again. Masood is the first overseas opener since Brathwaite in 2017 to score a first innings century in England. With Shaheen Afridi out at 10, Shan Masood goes into attack mode! Two sixes and one four against Bess in one over as the opener finally frees his arms after a patient innings. Masood brings up his 150 with a push down to third man for a couple. What a knock this has been from him! 150 off 311 balls.
Two in two for Archer, who gets rid of Yasir Shah and Mohammad Abbas. Shaheen Afridi survives the hat-trick ball as Pakistan are 291/8. Archer blows open the Pakistan tail with wickets off successive deliveries - Yasir (5) out lbw before Abbas (0) snicks behind to Root first ball.
England get a breakthrough as Dom Bess denies Shadab Khan a half-century. Shadab skies one to hand Dom his first wicket of the Test. Shadab top-edged straight into the hands of Joe Root at mid-on! PAK are 281/6.
