For what seems like forever, the hair of African American women has been considered inherently unprofessional.
In fact, the persistent practice of workplaces banning certain textures and styles associated with Black hair has led to hair-centric anti-discrimination laws.
Now, Allure reports television reporter Treasure Robert's tweet about the issue has gone viral.
The tweet has been liked more than 100,000 times in less than 48 hours, and the replies are full of support and similar sentiments.
Roberts says she's in awe of the response.
Representation is important and I hope that other journalists and Black women, in general, are motivated to be unapologetically themselves.

A new study reveals a high body mass index raises the risk for severe COVID-19 and admission to intensive care units among African Americans. According to UPI, BMI is a calculation based on a person's height and weight and identifies whether they are overweight or obese. Novel coronavirus COVID-19 intensive care unit patients had a higher average body mass index than those who weren't admitted to the ICU.
Donald Trump, President of the United States of America, commented on the progress of research to stop the Covid-19 pandemic. Commenting on the race to develop a vaccine, he said that many companies are close to creating a successful one. He also announced a $2 billion deal with Sanofi and GSX for clinical trials and mass production of 10 crore doses of a vaccine. The US military is prepared to carry out distribution of a vaccine once it gets requisite clearance, said Trump. He also said that 'tremendous work' is being done on therapeutics, or non-vaccine treatment. The US government is looking at such methods 'very, very strongly'. The nation's Covid case tally has crossed 45 lakh, the highest in the world, with over 1.52 lakh deaths so far. The pandemic is set to be the biggest issue, apart from alleged discrimination against African-Americans, in the upcoming Presidential polls in the US. Elections are slated to be held in November 2020, although Trump has called for a postponement which was met with stern opposition. Watch the full video for more.

According to Reuters, it rejected 10 different appeals challenging firearms restrictions violating the Second Amendment. One of those cases challenged assault weapons bans in Massachusetts and Cook County, Ill. Another challenged New Jersey law mandating people carrying handguns in public to show a special reason for doing so.
