The girls revealed their ordeal to their relative in Chinchwad; the case was transferred to Solapur

Acase of abuse has been registered against three minors’ grandparents and uncle. The incident was got to Chinchwad cops’ notice by a 16-year-old girl, who is among the trio who was harassed. The case was then transferred to Solapur, where the girls were “tortured”.

According to her complaint, the three girls were harassed between 2014 and 2020. They first revealed the ordeal to a relative in Chinchwad recently, who then approached Muskaan (a non-governmental organisation), which helped the girls approach cops.

The cops have said that the complainant has been abused by her 70-year-old grandfather and 60-year-old grandmother since she was 10 years old. These senior citizens would get intimate in front of the minor, forcing her to watch them in the act. When she refused, they would beat her up. They — along with the 50-year-old uncle — also allegedly have harassed the 16-year-old’s two sisters.

Ravindra Jadhav, senior police inspector of Chinchwad police station, said, “The minors’ parents passed away in a road accident, following which they have been staying with their grandparents in Solapur. Their education has been stopped. The 16-year-old had come to her relative’s place with her two sisters to Chinchwad.

Here, she said that she did not want to return for their grandparents ‘were not good’ and treated them ‘harshly’. When the relatives heard the whole ordeal, they were shocked. Thus they approached Muskaan and then the cops.”

It has come to fore that the accused’s grandmother was aware of the victim being harassed and abused. A case has been register ed against her for supporting the crime.

The accused’s grandfather used to film the girls while they changed their clothes. He had threatened them against revealing the incident.

They have been booked under sections 376 (rape), 354 (molestation), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
