Tamil Nadu govt is making all efforts to protect people from Covid-19 and economic downfall caused by it, CM says

MADURAI: Chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Thursday said the Tamil Nadu government is making all efforts to ensure that people are protected from Covid-19 and the economic downfall caused by it.
He said people had been given free ration and cash support. Free rice in larger quantities would be supplied to people till November, the CM said.
Palaniswami was speaking at a Covid-19 review meeting in Dindigul district.
He said the state had done the highest number tests in the country. “We are continuing to test the more number of people compared with other states,” he said.
There were adequate stocks of RT-PCR kits which provided accurate results of the tests, he said.
The CM said 43,578 Covid-19 tests had been done in Dindigul district till date. The spread of the disease in this district was comparatively low, he added.
