191 fresh cases detected; Goa’s active COVID tally 2,095

Panaji: The state on Thursday registered 191 fresh cases of the COVID-19 pandemic and two deaths associated with the deadly disease.

The two, who succumbed to the virus include a 67-year-old man and a 73-year-old man, both residents of Vasco. They died while undergoing treatment at the Margao-based COVID hospital.

According to the media bulletin issued by the directorate of health services, both the deceased had co-morbidities. Around 166 COVID patients have been declared cured in the last 24 hours.

With this surge and the recoveries, the confirmed cases currently stand at 7,614 of which 2,095 are active, while 5,453 patients have defeated the deadly disease. Till date, the state has witnessed 66 COVID deaths.

According to the directorate of health services, the 2,095 active cases include 13 persons, who travelled to Goa from outside by road, rail and air.

A majority of the active COVID-19 cases in Goa fall under the jurisdiction of urban health centre of Vasco with 368 cases, primary health centre of Cortalim has 284 cases and UHC Margao has 156 cases within its jurisdiction.

The community health centres from where the cases are emerging are Bicholim (12), Sankhali (60), Pernem (37), Valpoi (67), Curchorem (35) and Canacona (14). The other UHCs include Mapusa (76) and Panaji (78).

The COVID cases are also surfacing from the jurisdictions of PHCs that include Aldona (20), Betki (17), Candolim (57), Cansarvanem (6), Colvale (43), Corlim (52), Chimbel (120), Siolim (17), Porvorim (48), Mayem (19),  Balli (57), Cansaulim (37), Chinchinim (2), Curtorim (54), Loutolim (35), Marcaim (26), Quepem (40), Sanguem (19), Shiroda (40), Dharbandora (31), Ponda (108) and Navelim (47).
